Misleading Gold Sovereign Adverts
We often see gold sovereign advertisements which are misleading. We comment on some of the most surprising, from big companies, including the Royal Mint and The London Mint Office.
eBay is rife with misleading listings, but it's almost to be expected.
- The London Mint Office
- £139 Gold Sovereign
2009 Proof Gold Sovereign
£160 saving, Free Postage!
We don't know what the "London Mint Office" are talking about, and neither do they, apparently.
- London Mint Office Gold Sovereigns £119
A previous example of a baited hook waiting to catch the unwary.
- Royal Mint
- Gold Sovereigns from £35 Each!
An example from 2000, since when we thought the culprit had repented.
- Gold Sovereigns from £65 Each!
But apparently not! (September 2009 - Actually quarter sovereigns).
- 2011 British Gold Sovereigns - Available From Only £65.00
Available from only £65.00 according to one of our competitors, (as at 21st March 2011) although they were actually charging £269! Who was this devious dealer? They threaten to sue us for defamation when we reveal the facts.
