"Kings" Type Set of British Gold Sovereigns
One excellent way to collect gold sovereigns is to ignore dates, and collect type coins. For example, there is only one type or design of Edward VII sovereign, although there were nine different dates. It's not necessary to collect every one of the years from 1902 to 1910, any one of them will do to illustrate the type.
Some type collectors may wish to acquire two specimens, so that they can display the obverse and reverse (head and tail) side simultaneously.
"King" Sovereigns
Bullion dealers worldwide refer to "old" or "new" sovereigns. "New" refers to Elizabeth II sovereigns, often known as "QEII's" for short. "Old" includes "Kings" Edward VII and George V, in addition to Queen Victoria.
Edward VII & George V
There are a total of three types of Edward VII & George V sovereigns, ignoring proof versions.
